Sept. 9th 1942 Lieber Schwager,

Ich erhielt verschiedene Briefe von Dir und liebe Rosa durchs Rote Kreuz. Vielen Dank dafür. Ich schrieb schon, dab es schneller bei Air Mail geht, da das Rote Kreuz doch so viel zu tun hat bleiben die Briefe längere Zeit liegen. Eure waren von April und Mai. Ich feue mich dab Ihr und die Kinder Gott sei Dank gesund seid. Ich habe Euch Beiden oft geschrieben und um die Adresse der Kinder gebeten. Schribet mir sie doch endlich bitte. Das zweite Geschenk für meine ältere Schwester habe ich Anganf August gekauft. Also macht Euch keine Sorgen. Ich warte auf Nachricht von liebe Mutter und auch von liebe Flora. Mir geht ges gut. Aber die Sorgen reiben mich auf. Wann werden wir uns alle wiedersehen? Ich wünsche Euch Allen ein gutes Neues Jahr Der liebe Gott beschütze Euch weiter. Seid tapfer und guten Mutes. Sept. 9th 1942 Dear brother-in-law,

I received various letters from you and dear Rosa through The Red Cross. Thank you very much for writing. I wrote already that post comes more quickly by air mail because, with The Red Cross having so much to do, letters often sit for longer periods of time. Your letters were from April and May. I'm happy that you two and the children, thank God, are in good health. I have written to both of you often asking for the address of the children. Please be sure to finally send me their address. The second gift for my older sister I purchased in early August. So don't worry about anything. I'm waiting for news from our dear mother as well as from dear Flora. I'm doing just fine. Yet, the worries are wearing me down. When will we all see each other again? I wish all of you a good New Year. May dear God continue to protect you. Be brave and of stout heart. Greet dear Rosa and the children from me.
