<salute>Liebe Familie Wertheimer,</salute></opener>

<p>Soeben habe ich von meinem Vetter
<unclear>Ernest</unclear> Kahn einen Special Delivery Brief
gehabt. Er schrieb mir darin, daß <unclear></unclear>
Wertheimer gestern Abend <unclear>dorten</unclear> war und
Tilly evtl. für meine beiden Nächsten was tun
könnte. Wie dankbar ich Ihnen dafür wäre
kann ich Ihnen nicht schreiben. Denn
es dauert mir alles furchtbar lange und
meine Schwester Rosa schreibt furchtbar.
Meine Pakete die ich durch verschiedene
Leute hier senden ließ kamen nicht
an. Und sie schreibt die Kinder wären
furchtbar hungrig.

Tag kommen.</p>

<p>Im voraus meinen herzlichsten
Danke grüßt Sie alle</p>

<opener><dateline>Great Neck (New York), May 5, 1941<lb/>

<salute>Dear Wertheimer family,</salute></opener>

<p>I’ve just received a special-delivery letter from my cousin Ernest Kahn. In it, he wrote that <unclear>Mr.
Wertheimer</unclear> was there yesterday evening and that
Tilly could potentially do something to help my two nearest and dearest. I can’t even begin to write how grateful I would be for that, as it seems to me that everything is taking so terribly long to do, and my sister Rosa has written of the terrible situation.
My packages I have had sent through various people here have not arrived there. And she writes that the children are to extremely hungry. Here are all their names, birthdays and addresses.</p>

<p>Moses Moritz Stern, born OCT 24, 1900, in Ober-Breidenbach. Block F, Barrack 25, Rivesaltes Internment Camp, France</p>

<p>Rosa Stern, maiden name Gottlieb, born DEC 13, 1900 in Grebenau. Block K, Barrack 52 Rivesaltes Internment Camp</p>

<p>Beate Stern, October 8, 1932, <unclear>Hauserbach/Lauterbach</unclear>.
Block K, Barrack 52, Rivesaltes Internment Camp</p>

<p>Sylvia Susi Stern, September 22, 1935, Fulda.
Block K, Barrack 52, Rivesaltes Internment Camp</p>

<p>How are you all doing? I am back at
my first position <unclear></unclear> and feel much
better here than in the <unclear>City</unclear>. I received mail from my
mother two weeks ago. They are
healthy, and Siegfried and my brother-in-law have work.
Yet, my dear mother is extremely concerned about Rosa and her family.
If Tilly needs to know any further information,
I would gladly come sometime on my day off work.</p>

<p>Please accept my deepest gratitude for your efforts, with heartfelt greetings to you all,</p>
