La joie que m’a cau-sé ta lettre était vraiment grande. Enfin j’ai retrouvé quelqu’un du Couret. Je me rappelle maintenant que tu étais dans notre chambre n’est- ce pas? Ta petite soeur était à Masgeliers. Mais je ne peux pas du tout m’imaginer ma petite Béatrice devenu une demoiselle de 12 ans! Je suis heureuse que to sois à Londre, et nous espérons bientôt te revoir là-bas. Il me semble que tu as fais des très grands progrés en français, car tu parlais souvent avec nous l’allemand. J’ai beaucoup de nouvelles à t’apprendre. Te rappelles-tu encore de Berty? elle est aussi en Suisse. Nous l’avons vu à Génève ainsi que Amélie Karniol, Edith Salid et Mina Fenig. Je ne sais pas si tu les connais

Mais elles étaient au Couret. Mous. et Mad. Krakos-ki sont ici à Bex. Maria et Isidor de Masgelier sont pour travailler dans une maison d’enfants. Riri et malheureusement resté en france, ainsi que Inge Oppenheimer et Rachel Itzkowitz. Elles nous ont déjà écrit. Hermine est avec eux. Tu connais bien Schrulle? (Charlote Bacharach) elle aussi a pu se sauver en Suisse. Maintenant que je t’ai donné beaucoup de nouvelles, j’attends déjà avec impatience une réponse.

Receiving your letter has truly brought me incredible joy. I’ve finally found someone from the Couret1 again. I recall now that you were in our bedroom, is that right? Your little sister was at Masgeliers2. But I simply can’t imagine at all that my little Beatrice has become a young lady of 12 years! I’m happy that you are in London,3 and we hope to see you there soon. It seems to me that you have made tremendous progress with your French, as you used to speak to us often in German. I have lots of news to fill you in on. Do you remember Berty? She is in Switzerland as well. We saw her in Geneva as well as Amélie Karniol, Edith Salid and Mina Fenig. I don’t know if you know them.

But they were all at Couret. Mous. and Mad. Krakos-ki are here in Bex4. Maria and Isidor who were at Masgelier are working in a children’s home. Riri unfortunately stayed in France, as did Inge Oppenheimer and Rachel Itzkowitz. They have already written to us. Hermine is with them. And of course you know Schrulle (Charlotte Bacharach) ? She, too, was able to save herself by getting to Switzerland. Now that I’ve given you lots of news, I’m already waiting impatiently for your reply.
