<salute>My Darling Wife —</salute></opener>

Gee honey — I received three letters from
you on Saturday but up until this time
I have been indisposed and I do mean
sick. Ha! I have often wondered how
a ship can sail upside down but have
decided that it is possible. I ate some
food tonite for the first time since yesterday
morning and I was really hungry.
I feel much better now however and
believe the water is quieting down some.

That was very sweet of you to try
and wire the money but really honey
I didn’t need it in fact as I stated previously
I would rather not take too much
with me.

Your quiet New Years celebration was
very similar to mine except I was in
bed before 10:00 and of course didn’t
even have a drink. Very disgusting to
say the least but honey if I can get
out of this damned Army I’ll bet we
will make up for some of the lost
time. I did have a couple drinks New
Years Day in New York. Think I told you
about them when I talked with you
on the phone.

I suppose by this time you have
been to the dentist and got the low
down on your teeth, I do hope he doesn’t
find anything too seriously wrong
when I think how you suffered before.

<pb facs="soh.sto002.00014.002"/>

Think you must be doing pretty
swell with your knitting to have the
helmet so nearly finished. I am sure I
will have plenty of use for it and as
you say it works also for a scarf.

Honey I am very happy you get so
much company out of the picture. I look
at yours in my billfold plenty often and
it does seem to help. Think I have read
these last letters at least 3 or four times
and seem to enjoy them more each time.

Went to church yesterday morning and
the services were very nice. It was a
good thing I went then as I surely could
not have made it last night. I think
by that time I had thrown up every thing
possible and the ones who weren’t sick
were few and far between.

Well darling, I cant think of any
more news for now so will close
and go to bed. I’ll be thinking of you.
