Just heard a flash on the radio that was the best news we have heard for sometime; all German troops in Italy have surrendered. That means it cant be long for the balance of them, thank God. The news and rumors have been flying thick and fast but I guess plenty of things are happening.
We were surprised this morning when we awakened to find two or three inches of snow on the ground and still falling. It has practically all melted off now but is still quite chilly. We moved again today but I don’t believe it will be necessary to make many more of them in Germany. I mean chasing them. Only one thing I have been sorry for so far in our travels of Germany (I mean as long as I had to be here) is the fact to date I havn’t found a good camera. I’m still hoping however but we don’t have much further to go in Germany.
I think we fellows are going to play some bridge tonite. Hope I’m lucky enough to hold some good hands but I havn’t been able to the last few times we have played.
We had good chow tonite for a change, our first hot meal in several days. Had steak, peas, potatoes, beats, peaches, bread and jam and coffee. I hope we can continue to get “B” rations for a few days as the others surely get tiresome.
I havn’t had any mail from you in several days except for the one you wrote Easter Sunday and I received yesterday. I am hoping that we get some tonite but rather dout if I will because of our moving so rapidly.
