<salute>My Honey &#8212;</salute></opener>

<p>I received your letter of the 14th
this morning, also one from mother.
It is almost 10:00 P.M. now and I am
writing by candle light so honey if
you will excuse me tonight, I will
make this short and snappy. We
had quite a storm here tonite including
lightning, rain and hail and for
some reason all electricity is off.</p>

<p>Well honey as you can see by
the heading of my letter, I have moved
again. Received orders at the Co. last
night for me to report to Bn Hqs
this morning at ten and to bring all
equipment and that I would be here
on Special Duty. I talked with Mr.
Tollefson upon arrival and found
I am to work in Personnel. He also
stated I would probably be transferred
from Co “A” to Hq. detachment of the Bn.
If that happens I will be in Personnel
for good. It seems two of the
boys are leaving and possibly three.
One passed his examination for
Warrant Officer J.G. and the other
was transferred to SHAEF Hqs at
Frankfurt. Also Sol passed the W.O.J.G.
exam so may receive an appointment
some time soon. Cap’t O’Brein
was very unhappy about the deal
and said he was going to ask for
me back however if they want me

<pb facs="soh.sto002.00137.002"/>

here, it won’t do any good. Guess I
must be about the most valuable
Pfc in the Army. Ha! He also stated,
of the few men I have who don’t
screw up, why do they have to take
you from me? I really don’t care
practically where I am as there
is very little work either place at
present. If by chance we have to
go to the Pacific later, I would certainly
prefer Personnel as it is
furthest back from the front. In
fact it is with the Div Rear Echelon.
We have a large house here in Kufstein
just for living quarters for we ten
fellows from Personnel, we eat at
Div Mess consequently we don’t
have much contact with the Bn
for which I am happy. I have a
nice large room with four large
windows (complete with drapes, a
small table and a writing desk. Also
have a clothes closet and chest of
drawers for my things so it is
really quite nice.</p>

<p>Honey, I opened the other box
containing the pecans, peanut candy,
etc. That peanut candy in the
round card board container is
really delicious. It surely stays crisp
and fresh.</p>

<p>I am surely glad my mail is
now arriving as well and was
glad to hear you enjoyed the pictures.</p>

<pb facs="soh.sto002.00137.003"/>

<p>Perhaps if Eastman is kind enough
to send some film I can send you
a few more pictures. Regarding the
negatives, I don’t have so many of
them left now but will send home
those I have.</p>

<p>You mentioned Patricia and her
husband being there, I don't even
know she was married or else
I had forgotten. Apparently you
wrote same about them on your
letter of the 13th which I havn’t received.
Gee she seems like a small
child to me but suppose she is
quite the young lady now. Are they
still living in Washington?</p>

<p>Well darling my poor little
candles are almost gone and it is
now 10:30 so will close and go to
bed. Will be dreaming of you
honey. Hope you are feeling much
better.</p>
