<salute>Dearest Gretchen —</salute></opener>

I am having a hell of a time
trying to get a letter written tonight.
I just got the address written when
our lights went out. After fooling
around we found the trouble was
in the fuses so have it corrected now.

I was lucky again today when
I received a letter from you (the 3rd)
and one from Mr. Mullen of the same
date.

Honey you could never guess
what we did this afternoon. Stuart and
I worked like the devil this morning
so we could get everything finished
by 1:30 then about fifteen of us
went to see the football game at Salzburg.
We saw the Rainbow University
team from Zell Am Sea play some
Field Artillery team and of course the
Rainbow team got beat. Understand, that
wasn’t our division team but just a
bunch of scrubs from Rainbow University.
our division team is really a pretty
good team and I hope to get to see
them play in a week or two. I understand
they have one All-American player
plus others that were stars.

<pb facs="soh.sto002.00229.002"/>

Honey I am inclosing another
money order for 100.00 and hope it doesn't
get lost enroute. I may send some more
in a few days if things work out, and
I hope they do.

Oh yes I forgot to tell you that
after the football game we went to
the Red Cross Club and filled up on
hot doughnuts and coffee.

Some of our boys who were tr’fd
to the 26th are back down here tonite
and there is so much noise here
in the station that I can’t concentrate
on a decent letter. Miller, Lupa
and I are going down to the show in
a little while and see "God Is My
Co-Pilot.” Some of the fellows saw it
and say it is very good.

I am glad that Alvin has finally
received his papers and expects to be
home soon. Wish I was in his place.

We had several trips open this
week including four to the Riviera,
2 to Switzerland, and 3 to Paris but I
was afraid to try any of them because
of sweating out the furlough deal. If it
doesn’t come thru now I will really
be unhappy after passing up those deals.

Well darling its almost time for
the show so Bye for now —
