Ich kann mir gar nicht erklären warum man so gar nichts von Euch hört. So viele Bekannte bekommen Briefe von ihren Lieben aus Amerika; nur mit Egon sind wir noch in Verbindung. Aus seinem letzten Brief entnahm ich, daß Du lb. Tante Käte ab u. zu an Asthma leidest u. daß Onkel Alfred Rheuma hatte. Ich hoffe, daß das Alles wieder besser ist u. Ihr Euch gesundheitlich auf der Höhe fühlt! Sehr viel denke ich an die lb. Tante Reni— hoffentlich übersteht sie alles gut, sodaß sie ihren Lebensabend noch im Kreise ihrer Kinder verbringen kann. Duch Lorchs aus Jerusalem hörten wir auch von Alices Verheiratung; sie freuten uns sehr mit der Nachricht.
Wir haben dieses Jahr mit Lorchs „Kinderaustausch"
gemacht: Lorchs Töchterchen Hannah Rudi, ein 11 1/2
jährig. sehr liebes Mädelchen, war 3 Wochen bei uns u.
Micha war 14 Tage dort in Jerusalem. Beide Teile
waren sehr befriedigt mit den Ferien. Micha war das
1. Mal in Jerusalem u. hat ihn natürlich die
Stadt sehr interesstert.—Auch Uri haben wir aus–
wir mal von Euch!
Ich muss wieder zu der alten Methode
handschriftlicher Briefe zurückkehren, weil die Maschine,
welche ich bisher immer benutzt habe, nicht mehr hier
ist u. man sonst nur solche mit hebr. Tÿpen hat. Meine
Schrift ist wohl noch leserlich? ich bin nur nicht mehr
in der Uebung u. es geht deshalb viel langsamer u. macht
mehr Mühe, der ich mich gern unterziehe.—Unsere verschiedenen
vorausgegangenen Briefe habt Ihr hoffentlich erhalten
oder sie kommen nach u. nach bei Euch an. Mit Egon stehen
wir in fast regelmässigem Airgraph-Briefverkehr, den
letzten erhielten wir vor einigen Tagen u. haben daraus zu
unserer Freude erfahren, dass es Euch auch gesundheitlich
gut geht. Unter anderm teilt uns Egon auch mit, dass es ihm
gelungen ist, mit seiner Mutter, der l. Reni in Theresiensadt
in Verbindung zu kommen, er hat uns die Adresse mitgeteilt
u. wir hoffen, dass es uns gelingt, auch mit ihr in Verbindung
zu kommen. Glücklicherweise sieht es ja so aus,
als ob die verruchte Nazi-Herschaft nicht mehr weit vom
Zusammenbruch ist u. wir wollen wünschen, dass die l. Reni
Von uns ist nicht viel zu berichten. Es ist die Zeit der grossen Schulferien; es ist sehr heiss, nur Abends wird es angenehm kühl. Wie alljährlich hatten wir Ferienbesuch u. Gerda u. die Kinder waren in Jerusalem (Micha) u. Uri u. Benjamin in Tel-aviv, einige Tage war auch Artur nicht hier—er brachte Benjamin zu Gerda—so dass ich allein war. Ich will es Gerda ueberlassen, Euch darüber zu schreiben.
Wir verfolgen natürlich mit grösstem Interesse die täglichen Radio- u. Zeitungsberichte von der Kriegsschauplätzen u. freuen uns, dass die Zeit nicht mehr fern ist, wo die Nazischufte ihren verdienten Lohn für ihre Schandtaten heimgezahlt bekommen.
Ich hoffe, dass dieser Brief in Euere Hände kommt u. Euch alle bei bestem Wohlsein antrifft, wünsche Euch nicht nur zu kommenden Feiertagen, sondern für alle Tage alles Gute, gratuliere zu allen Geburtstagen vor- u. nachträglich u. grüsse Euch alle

I can't understand why we haven't heard anything from you. So many acquaintances receive letters from their loved ones in America; but only Egon is still in touch with us. From his last letter I gathered you that you, dear Aunt Käte, suffer from asthma from time to time, and that Uncle Alfred had rheumatism. I hope that everything is better now and that your health is fully restored! I think a lot about dear Aunt Reni— I hope she makes it through everything so that she can spend her twilight years surrounded by her children.Through the Lorchs in Jerusalem, we also heard about Alice's marriage; we were happy to hear the news.1
This year, we did a “child exchange” with the Lorchs:

years old and a very sweet girl, stayed with us for 3 weeks and
Micha spent 14 days in Jerusalem. Both sides
were very satisfied with their vacation. Micha was
in Jerusalem for the first time and was of course very interested
in the city.—We also "exchanged" Uri;

I must return to the old method
of handwritten letters because the typewriter
I have always used is no longer here
and the only others available have Hebrew characters. My
handwriting is still legible, I hope? I'm just out of practice
and therefore it takes much longer and requires
more effort, which I am happy to undertake.—I hope you have received our various
previous letters
or that they will reach you bit by bit. We are pretty much in regular airmail correspondence with Egon,
the last of which we received a few days ago and from which we were
pleased to learn that you are also in good health.
Among other things, Egon also informs us that he has
succeeded in contacting dear Reni, his mother, in Theresienstadt.
He has given us the address
and we hope that we will also be able to get in touch with her.
Fortunately, it looks as if
the wicked Nazi rule is not far from
collapse, and we hope that Reni
will get through the rest of this difficult time well.
There is not much to report from us. It is the time of the long school holidays; it is very hot, only in the evenings does it become pleasantly cool. As every year, we had visitors during the holidays and Gerda and the children were in Jerusalem (Micha) and Uri and Benjamin in Tel Aviv. Artur was also away for a few days — he took Benjamin to Gerda's — so I was alone. I will leave it to Gerda to write to you about that.
We are, of course, following the daily radio and newspaper reports from the theaters of war with great interest and are glad that the time is not far off when the Nazi scoundrels will get their just deserts for their misdeeds.
I hope that this letter reaches you and finds you all in good health. I wish you all the best, not only for the coming holidays, but for every day. Congratulations on all your birthdays, past and future, and warmest regards to you all.
