Meine Lieben, ich nehme an, dass mein letzter Brief angekommen ist. Hoffentl. gehts Euch gut. Zu Neujahr hören wir ja von Euch. ––– Alles erdenkliche Gute, Frieden, dann wird, wenn man dabei gesund ist, schon alles werden.–

Von uns kann ich G.L. auch Ordentliches melden, unsre Hühner könnte zwar noch besser legen.aber wir sind ja nicht so verwöhnt.– Ich bi momentan bei Verwandten, Freunden, wie Ihr wollt in Flushing, N Y. Ich bekomme Einlagen bein nem Orthopäden gemacht u.warte die hier ab. Es gefällt mir gut. Bes. nette Menschen, die Dame ist Journalistin. Ich treffe intressante Leute hierNur ists noch immer sio warm u. humid, man kann kaum atmen.–

Ich humple noch immer was, es wäre ne Schwäche, die sich verlieren würde.–

Von der Schweiz haben wir gute Berichte,Der Junge ist nun schon 3 Monate alt.–Ich habe nen Bild von 3 Wochen alt. Prächtiges Baby. Sie warten, bald nach Holland zurück zukommen.–Abwarten.– Es siehtja sehr günstig aus, wir hoffen doch dass Europa in 8 Wocehn erledigt ist, wennnnnnnn der Himmel nicht noch auf die Erde stürzt.

Für heute nur herzl. Grüsse, verbringt die Feiertage recht schön, Euren Kindern alles Gute u. viele Grüsse von der ganzen Familie, die im Moment nicht vereint ist.–Euch selbst herzl. Grüsse von

Inzwischen ist beinahe der Himmel auf die Erde gekomen. – Hier siehts aus. Beinahe, wie auf nem Schlachtfeld. 1000de von Bäumen, von unvorstellbarer Dicke, liegen, aus dem Pflaster gerissen, herum. G. s. d. ist nun nichts passiert. Angeblich bei uns in T.R. auch nicht. Bert rief an ich war aber nicht am Telefon–

My dear ones, I assume that my last letter has arrived. I hope you are all well. We will hear from you around New Year's. — All the best, peace, and then everything will be ok, as long as we are all healthy.

I can also report that everything is fine with us. Our chickens could lay a bit better, but we are not that spoiled. I am currently staying with relatives, friends (whatever you want to call them) in Flushing, NY. I'm having insoles made by an orthopedist and am waiting for them here. I like it here. Very nice people, the lady is a journalist. I am meeting interesting people here. But it is still so warm and humid, you can hardly breathe.

I'm still limping a bit, it's a weakness that is supposed to go away.

We have good reports from Switzerland. The boy is now 3 months old. I have a picture of him at 3 weeks old. A magnificent baby. They are waiting to return to Holland soon. — We need to wait and see. — It looks very promising. We hope that Europe will be done in 8 weeks if the sky doesn't fall onto the earth in the meantime.

For today, I'm sending my love; have a nice holiday, all the best to your children and many greetings from the whole family, which is not together at the moment. Warm regards from

Meanwhile, it's almost as if the sky has fallen down to earth1. — That's what it looks like here. Almost like a battlefield. Thousands of trees, of unimaginable, thickness, lie around everywhere, torn out of the pavement. Thank God nothing happened to us. Allegedly, nothing happened at home in Toms River either. Bert called, but I missed the call. — Once again, Erna —
