Hanne (Hannie) Lore Baer Wolf

Hanne (Hannie) Wolf was born in Ulm, Germany, in 1925 to her parents, Felix and Hilde Baer. She and her parents fled from Germany to escape Nazi control in 1940, and traveled through Russia, China, Japan, Korea, and Canada, on their way to the United States, primarily traveling by train and boat. Hanne and her family left behind a beloved grandmother, Emmy Metzler Frankfurter, who did not survive the Holocaust. Hanne became a United States citizen in 1946 and married her husband Bob Wolf in 1947. She settled in Albion, Nebraska, with her family and passed away in May 2018.

Hannie often told of her family's remarkable departure from Nazi Germany through her writing and speaking engagements throughout the years. She documented her grandmother's correspondence along with other publications.  More about her story can be found in the following links and content.
