Action on Denver Hospital Building Fund
Dr. Philip Sher, Chairman of the Special Committee on the National Jewish
Hospital Building Fund Drive, submitted its recommendation that the Omaha Federation pledge the sum of $15,000, out of the proceeds of the Jewish Philanthropies
campaigns, spread over a period of five years, at the rate of $3,000.00 annually.
This recommendation of the Committee was approved, with the customary provision of "subject to availability of funds".
Pledge Redemption Campaign
Mr. Rice announced that Harry B. Cohen will serve as Associate Chairman of
the Pledge Redemption Campaign.
Following a discussion of outstanding pledges of prior years, the Board voted
the following:
a. That the Special Committee on Delinquent Accounts be authorized to review
1948 pledges, in addition to 1947 and 1946 pledges.
b. That the Committee be directed to effect settlements on a "hardship"
basis only.
Sale of Center East Lot
On an inquiry as to whether the Federation would consider selling the Center
East Lot, the Board resolved that the Lot shall not be sold, and that steps be
taken to put up a fence, and put the lot to some Center use.
D.P. Activities
Mr. Rice commented on the work of Mrs. Harold P. Farber, co-ordinator of the
National Council of Jewish Women’s Volunteers, and also cited the fine work of
Mrs. Louis Neveleff in securing some 11 job opportunities for D.P.’s. He urged
members of the Board to advise the Federation office of job opportunities.
U.J.A. Meeting in Chicago
Mr. Rice urged members of the Board to attend the Midwest UJA Conference to
be held in Chicago.
