MINUTES OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF FEDERATION FOR JEWISH SERVICE

Dr. Philip Sher, Chairman of the Special Committee on the National Jewish Hospital Building Fund Drive, submitted its recommendation that the Omaha Federation pledge the sum of $15,000, out of the proceeds of the Jewish Philanthropies campaigns, spread over a period of five years, at the rate of $3,000.00 annually.

This recommendation of the Committee was approved, with the customary provision of "subject to availability of funds".

Pledge Redemption Campaign Mr. Rice announced that Harry B. Cohen will serve as Associate Chairman of the Pledge Redemption Campaign. Following a discussion of outstanding pledges of prior years, the Board voted the following: a. That the Special Committee on Delinquent Accounts be authorized to review 1948 pledges, in addition to 1947 and 1946 pledges. b. That the Committee be directed to effect settlements on a "hardship" basis only. Sale of Center East Lot On an inquiry as to whether the Federation would consider selling the Center East Lot, the Board resolved that the Lot shall not be sold, and that steps be taken to put up a fence, and put the lot to some Center use. D.P. Activities Mr. Rice commented on the work of Mrs. Harold P. Farber, co-ordinator of the National Council of Jewish Women’s Volunteers, and also cited the fine work of Mrs. Louis Neveleff in securing some 11 job opportunities for D.P.’s. He urged members of the Board to advise the Federation office of job opportunities. U.J.A. Meeting in Chicago Mr. Rice urged members of the Board to attend the Midwest UJA Conference to be held in Chicago. ADJOURNMENT
