Couret, August 10, 1943
My dear little Béate and Suzy!
Thank you for your most recent
post card, which I was delighted to receive.
Today we received letters
from the children at Couret and I thought that
I would get news from you. Why don’t you
write more often? Is it
a matter of money? Please reply to these
questions that I ask you. What do you both do all
day? Don’t cry if something isn’t
going well, Béate, You’ll see that all this
will soon be over. Everything will be
fine (or, Here, everything is fine – the French is grammatically incorrect, confusing), we go on walks
a lot.
I finish this letter hoping to
hear news from you, and embrace you
lovingly, your
Gerty
