Mezrich the town beetwn two rivers and forests was known for the hair and fur industries Mest. before the war was a town 75% Jewish, had a very rich live in cultural sport minded - political minded and professional people. The plan to clean out the Jewish population in Poland the town of Mezr. took a priority place. Being in Lublin vicinity was Mezyr was matde a transit point for Jews from towns and ilages around. * Already in 1939 after a few months of German ocupation transports of Jews from as far a Krakaw started to arrive. the beginning 1940 6000 were here. even a transport from Chechost. arrived in the early ocupation years. 1040 people.

 

When other towns never had heard of camps and forced labor Mezr. in one day June 7th 1940 lost 2295 men between 14-5250 to labor camps. thay worked on irrigation canals and rivers a lot died and were shot by the watch dogs the ones that return were swolen from standing waist hy in water all the time. 1940-41 a lot men and women worked in building a air strip and roads arouclose to town the worked at a fast tempo in two shifts at 12 hours a day. Also in 1940 we use to get freetent visit from the gestapo with hedquatars in Radzyri the county seat. A officer named fisher use to tell us: did you hear of me. in August 42 when the first big action (reestling) was going on they went the gestapo went in to the hospital and shot every one single person in ther

And other parts of the bodys all over. The transports of Jews from other towns made Mezrith a 40,000 population town with room for about 5000 in the only designated area in town for Jews. The Jarsh president of the Jewish concil asked to Gestapo wat is the min meaninig of bringding here some many people. his answer was red the nespaper from Krakow you will find out. Ont the order of the Governor there were a number of stricty Jewish towns establishe and one of them was Mezritch. From the 1940-1943 7 actions were carried out and July 1943 Mezrith was declared fu Free of Jews.
