Dear Senator Wherry:

I have your letter of December 14th, forwarding the enclosed copy of a letter from Mr. Alex Bernstein of Lincoln, Nebraska, concerning his relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Modenstein and their son, whom your constituent wishes to bring to this country under the Displaced Persons Act.

Mr. Bernstein also wrote directly to the Commission, suggesting that his name have been substituted erroneously for that of Mr. Modenstein in the notice posted in Mr. Modenstein's camp. We have instructed our European Headquarters to make an immediate investigation and rectify any error which may have been made. We have also advised Mr. Bernstein of our action.

I appreciate your calling this matter to my attention and assure you that it will recieve prompt attention of the Commission's staff in Germany.

Sincerely yours,

Ugo Carusi

Chairman
