State Eagles Select Thielbar, Thompson
Two McCookites have been selected to serve as state officers by the Nebraska Eagles and Auxiliary in 1975-76.
They are Melvin Thielbar, named State Conductor by the Nebraska Eagles, and Evelyn Thompson, elected Third Trustee by the Nebraska Eagles Auxiliary.
Both served the Eagles' organization on the state level last year. Thielba was Outside Guard and Mrs. Thompson was lower-level trustee.
Their elections took place June 11-15 at the Nebraska Eagles and Auxiliary convention in Lincoln.
Fifteen McCookites attended the meeting, which saw recognition of Nebraska Eagles for national leadership in membership and contributions to charity. During the past year, the Nebraska Eagles added 5,000 members and made donations totaling $44,482.
During the convention, John Vanosdall of Grand Island was installed as president of the Nebraska Eagles and Elizabeth Cohn of South Omaha became president of the Nebraska Eagles Auxiliary.
Special recognition was given to Vera Croft of Omaha, Woman of the Year; Cora Rigg of Omaha, Mother of the Year, and Floyd Ruppert of Fremont, Father of the Year.
Several grand officers of the Eagles and Auxiliary were in attendance.
Next year's state convention will be in Fremont.
