My first day of school, April 21, 1299. It was custom to give pupils going off to school for the first time a paper cone containing gifts. I was lucky and recieved two such cones, we carried our schoolbooks in a valise strapped to our backs. The inscription on the photo reads, "To my dear Oma a remembrance of our first schoolday."
