2. Camp des Milles was an internment camp in an old tile factory near Aix en Provence, just north of Marseille, France. [back]
3. The date Moritz wrote is August 17, 1942. The card is postmarked August 19, 1942. Moritz Stern was transported to Auschwitz from Drancy internment camp near Paris September 9, 1942 on the 30th RSHA transport train. He arrived at Auschwitz September 11, which is recorded as his date of death. [back]
