Letter from Milton Marcus to Irving Shapiro, December 10, 1990

MR. MILTON MARCUS 1705 SO 133RD ST OMAHA, NEBR. 68144-1228 Irving Shapiro 1550 Gentry Blvd. Gering, Nebr, 69341 Dear Mr. Shapiro

I got your adress from the Scottsbluff Gering phone book when my wife and I were attending a convention for the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) in April, 1990 at the Scottsbluff motel.

Since I had never really been to Scottsbluff before, I decided to explore and climb the monument while my wife attended convention meetings. At one lecture meeting, a local woman from the Community College gave the presentation. Among her remarks was one that she was tired of hearing people say, even though it may not have been said with malice, and that was "to Jew you down in price" or "to be Jewed down or out of something."

After the meeting my wife had a very pleasant conversation with this lady explaining that she also was Jewish (the only one at the convention) and that her husband (me) was also from New York as the lady mentioned in her lecture.

During that pleasant conversation this lady, whose name my wife has forgotten, recommended that I get your book at the Copperfield Book Store.
