Dear Mr. Shapiro,
Thank you for your interest in Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation. We are reciving a large response from survivors and apologize for any delay in contacting you.
Thus far we have established regional offices in Los Angeles, Toronto, New York, Chicago, and Southern Florda. We realize that every survivor's story is invaluable, but unfortunately we lack the resources to interview people in every region of the world. But we want you to know that your information is on record at our office, and if we open an office in your region you will be contacted.
In the meantime, if you will be visiting any of the cities where we do have offices, please contact us as soon as possible to arrange an interview. We prefer that you call us at least six weeks prior to your departure if possible, so the local coordinator of that city can plan to record your testimony. Our toll-free number is (800) 661-2092.
Steven Spielberg has created Surviviors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation as a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing the most complete archive of Holocaust survivor testimonies ever assembled. Our goal is to conduct videotaped interviews with as many survivors as possible throughout the world, assuring that future generations never forget what happened.
Your testimony will be preserved in its complete, unedited form. All video testimonies will be made availble worldwide to museums and nonprofit organizations devoted to educational, historical, religious, and charitable pursuits. Inital respositories include the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C., Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York, Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies at Yale University, and Yad Vashem In Israel.
