Former Husker R. Long Plays On ETO Team
Roy Long, former Cornhusker backfield star, is carrying the ball again, but this time for the 71st Infantry Division's Red Circle team at Augsburg, Germany.
Playing halfback, Long is one of the service team's leading gainers this season. Undefeated so far this year, the 71st is one of the leading contenders for the mythical ETO gridiron championship.
Long played on the varsity team for university in 1942 and has two years of competition remaining. He plans to return to the university after release by the army.
