Letter from Norman Smith to Howard and Violet Smith, February 28, 1944

  UNITED STATES ARMY Dear Folks;

This a.m. (-1:30) we are preparing to leave on Bivouac so you probably won't hear from me again until March 11th or so. Then I may be seeing you around the 20th of March.

This is a practice for the real thing as we eat rations, camouflage and everything. I will be back I imagine aroung the 11th of March.

This overhead machine gun fire was alot of fun but we sure got muddy.

Well can't thing of much to write so guess I'll sign off. I'll get all my incoming mail but sending it out is another matter.

So Long Norm
