Wir erhielten Deinen Brief vom 4.2. als zweite Nummer 98 und freuten uns sehr, dass Du Dein Affidavit abgesandt hast. Es ist dies für uns ein verheißungsvoller Anfang und hoffen wir, dass alle anderen Papiere folgen werden. Wie Du siehst ging Dein letzter Luftpostbrief 4 Wochen, ich rechne daher, dass der gewöhnliche Brief nicht vor Mitte April hier sein wird. Wenn wir alle Papiere hier haben, so besteht die Aussicht, dass wir ohne Rücksicht auf unsere Nummer eventuell herankommen, denn es sind jetzt hin und wieder Eltern in dieser Weise bevorzugt worden., aber es muss alles in Ordnung sein. Deinen letzten Brief haben wir Lachmanns nicht gezeigt. Unverständlich ist mir, wieso Suse von Dir und Du von ihr keine Post bekommt. Schreibe doch einmal an Onkel Adolf, er wartet so sehr auf Antwort auf seinen Brief. Dass Du an Suse nicht kabelst, kann ich wegen der hohen Kosten verstehen. Sonst gibt es nichts Neues.

Sehr gefreut habe ich mich, dass Du einmal Nachricht von Susel hattest, ich hoffe, dass ihr in Briefwechsel bleibt und immer für einander Interesse habt. Wie gern wüsste ich, ob sie wirklich glücklich ist oder das Glück erlebt, das sie erhofft hatte. Da aber die wenigsten Menschen das erreichen, wird sie sich vielleicht auch mit weniger begnügen müssen. Wenn wir erst bei Dir sind, und Du musst dann so lange arbeiten findest Du ein gemütliches Heim vor. Wie sehne ich mich danach, Dir alles so gut zu gestalten, wie Du es verdienst. Wohnst Du jetzt nett? Uns geht es gut, wir haben eine behagliche Wohnung und ich bin gern zu Haus. Einmal die Woche gehen wir zu Lachmanns. Neulich besuchten wir Plockis, die auch sehr viele Briefe von Walter hatten, sie sind öfter bei den Eltern, denen es auch gut geht. Hörst Du mal etwas von Brauers? Der Mutter Brauer in Gr. schreiben sie ja immer nur, dass es ihnen sehr gut geht.

We received your letter, dated 2.4., as the second No. 98 and were happy to hear that you sent off the affidavit. This will make for a promising beginning, and we hope that all other materials will follow. As you can see, your last letter via airmail took 4 weeks. I’m not expecting to receive the regular letter before the middle of April. When we get all of the papers, chances are good that our number will be called out of order, because every now and then parents receive preferential treatment, but all papers must be in order. We didn’t show your last letter to the Lachmanns. I don’t understand why Suse is not getting your mail and vise versa. Why don’t you write to Uncle Adolf sometime. He is anxiously awaiting a reply to his letter. I can understand that you’re not sending any cables to Suse due to the high costs. There’s nothing else new here to report.

I was delighted to hear that you received a message from Suse. I hope that you two stay in contact and will always keep the interest for one another. I would love to know whether she is truly happy and living her life the way she expected to do. However, very few people ever attain such bliss, and she will have to be satisfied with less. When we’re living with you and you have to work so much, you’ll be able to come home to find a comfortable space. I’m longing so much for the opportunity to do everything for you. You’ve really earned it. Do you have a nice place now? We are doing well. We have a cozy apartment, and I like being at home. We visit the Lachmanns once a week. We visited the Plockis recently. They have received many letters from Walter. They are staying with their parents a lot who are doing well too. Have you heard anything from Brauers? They only write that they’re doing well to their mother in Gr.
