Letter from Clarence Williams to Gretchen Williams, December 26, 1944

United States Army Dearest Gretchen —

Well here we are some where on the East coast. The weather here is quite cold with some snow and ice on the ground.

I was thinking just yesterday, I should have said good bye to Hal’s folks before I left. Hope he won’t be sore but you just can’t do everything.

I am enclosing a letter and Xmas card from the Crosbie’s. Know you will be very interested in hearing from them especially the part about the Anderson’s.

I hope you had an enjoyable Xmas and know you had a delicious dinner. We each received a pocket game (mine was a set of dominoes) and a package of cigarettes from the chaplain. Managed to find some bridge players so had a game of contract. I had terrible cards but we won because of a good partner.

I am feeling fine but sure wish I was back in good old Oklahoma. Was over to the Px and had some rolls and coffee, boy it really hit the spot.

Well darling I haven’t any more news at present so will close until tomorrow —

All my Love Clarence.
