Letter from Clarence Williams to Gretchen Williams, January 17, 1945

  My Darling Wife —

Well honey here I am again with that boring old letter. It seems every day becomes a little harder to find something to write about without repeating the same instances. I managed to get thirty more air mail stamps on the ship today so guess I can continue writing for a while. I still have some that you originally gave me. Incidentally, I meant to tell you that many of those envelopes I brought from home were stuck together. I don’t know whether I had them in a damp place or if perhaps they were partially so when purchased any way I got some from the Px at our last station.

I have been wondering if Belle Lupa wrote you. Tho’t perhaps she wouldn’t with Danny knowing that I called however I didn’t see her in New York. I saw that fellow on the ship who lived with them in Muskogee.

Boy I’m sure hoping we have laundry service some time soon after landing. I am really getting a stack of dirty socks and underwear.

Honey I just found out the lights go out early tonite and I have to shave and shower so must close. I am sure my next letter will be much more interesting Until then —

Bye for now honey
Worlds of Love
Clarence.
