Endlich heute haben wir nun Deinen Brief 46 vom 16.1.40 bekommen und Du kannst Dirdenken, was das für eine Freude für uns war. Nun sehen wir Dich immer in der weißenUniform am Cafe Espresso stehen. Du wirst ja auch wieder einmal eine DeinenFähigkeiten entsprechende Stellung finden, die Hauptsache ist, dass Du Dich wohl fühlst.Was bringt der Posten ein? Da wir so lange von Dir keine Nachricht hatten, habe icheinen Bekannten beauftragt, der nach Cuba ging, Dir von dort über unser Befinden zuberichten und musst Du noch eine ganze Zeit beim Postamt Deiner ersten Adresse dortnachfragen, da er Dir schreiben wird und auch von uns noch eine ganze Anzahl Briefepostlagernd unterwegs sind. Tante Else schrieb uns heute, dass Herbert Baum ganz inDeiner Nähe ist und Du ihn sicher schon gesprochen hast. Vielleicht kannst Du durch ihneinmal etwas bekommen, grüße ihn jedenfalls von uns herzlichst. Wir hoffen nunschneller wieder von Dir Post zu erhalten und ich möchte gern wissen, in welcher Zeitunsere Briefe bei Dir ankommen. Kannst Du nicht einmal eine Kaffeeprobe von Dirsenden? Hast Du von Margot L. das Augenglasrezept bekommen? Plockis werden inKürze abreisen.

Sehr glücklich war ich mit Deinem lieben Brief, dass Du gesund bist und es Dir gut geht.Dass Du Dich dort wohl fühlst ist ja die Hauptsache und wird Dir das Einleben sehrerleichtern. Wir sind gesund und geht es uns gut. Du bist nun 1 Jahr von uns weg undhabe ich recht große Sehnsucht. Wir hoffen bald mehr und öfter von Dir zu hören. Duhattest doch Deine Wintersachen all mit in L. hoffentlich. Wir haben hier auch bis 25Grad unter Null gehabt und viel Schnee aber auch das ist vorüber, vielleicht gibt es einenschönen langen Sommer. Willi und Hilde ernähren sich und es gefällt ihnen gut. Alfredscheint noch nichts passendes gefunden zu haben. Ich freue mich, dass Suse ihreNähkenntnisse so gut verwenden kann.

Finally, today we received your letter No. 46, dated 1.16.40, and you can imagine how happy we were. We keep imagining you in your white uniform at the Espresso machine.You will hopefully soon get a job that matches your abilities. The main thing is that you like it. Because we hadn’t heard from you in such a long time, we asked an acquaintance who was leaving for Cuba to write to you from there and tell you we are fine. You will have to stay in touch with the post office of your first address for a while still and ask for your mail. He is writing to you and there are still quite a few letters from us that should be on their way to you. Aunt Else wrote to us today and said that Herbert Baum lives very close to you and that you have probably spoken to him by now. Maybe he could help you out sometime. Could you send us a coffee sample sometime? Did you get your prescription for the glasses from Margot L.? The Plocki family is leaving very soon.

I was so happy to receive your lovely letter and to hear that you are healthy and doing well. The main thing is that you like it there. That will make it easier for you to get used to your new surroundings. We are healthy and doing well. We have been separated now for 1 year and I miss you terribly. We hope to hear from you more and more often soon. I hope you brought your winter clothes to Lincoln. It is up to 25 degrees [Celsius] below freezing sometimes, and we had a lot of snow. But that’s all over now, maybe a nice long summer will follow. Willi and Hilde are getting by and they like it there. Alfred still hasn’t found anything suitable yet, it seems. I am glad that Suse’s sewing skills have proven to be so useful.
