Über Deinen lieben Brief habe ich mich sehr gefreut, dass Du gesund bist und es Dir und Goldy gut geht. Hast Du von Suse und Alfred noch immer keine Nachricht? Schreibe bald einmal an Lachmanns, sie freuen sich von Dir persönlich einmal zu hören, hoffentlich schreibt Susel bald einmal. Heute am 29ten begeht sie ihren 2ten Hochzeitstag. Wir hörten, dass Irma nicht verreist sei und es ihr gut geht. Wir sind alle gesund und munter und es geht uns gut. Hoffentlich habt ihr den Labor Day gut verlebt. Hast Du wieder einmal Neues und Schönes gesehen? Wir haben sehr lange nichts von Gr. gehört, von Martha gar nichts. Was für eine Arbeits zeit hast Du jetzt, wie lange arbeitest Du abends? Ist das nun bestimmt, ob Du reisen kannst, hoffen wir das Beste. Alles Gute, mein lieber Junge.

Gestern kam Dein 75 vom 12.8. an und freute ich mich, dass mit Goldy alles in bester Harmonie ist. Den fehlenden Brief 56 hatte ich bei der Post reklamiert und gestern den Bescheid erhalten, dass das Postflugzeug am 13.5. ab Rom verunglückte und die Post verbrannt ist. Gelegentlich werde ich die Marken wieder als Frankatur verwenden. Hat Suse Dir noch nicht geschrieben? Wir würden gern wissen, wie es ihr geht. Alfred hat mit Hans anscheinend gesprochen und Alfred schrieb an Clara, dass Hans zugesagt hat, den Wortlaut, bzw. den Satz bekomme ich dieser Tage und sende ihn Dir im nächsten Brief. Wir warten immer schon sehnsüchtig auf Deine Post, da wir sonst ja wenig Abwechslung haben.

Do you still not have a message from Suse and Alfred? Please write to the Lachmanns. They would love to hear from you personally. I hope Susel writes soon. Today, on the 29th, is her 2nd wedding anniversary. We heard that Irma didn’t go on her trip but is doing well. We are all healthy and happy and doing well. I hope you spent a good Labor Day. Did you see anything new and nice? We haven’t heard from Gr. and nothing at all from Martha. What are your hours for work now? How late do you work at night? Is it for sure that you may travel? We hope for the best.

We received your letter No. 75, dated 8.12., and am glad to hear that everything with Goldy and you is in perfect harmony. I went to the post office and reported the missing letter No. 56. Yesterday, I received word that a mail plane leaving Rome crashed on 5.13. and all of the mail was destroyed in the fire. I will send you the stamps soon as postage on one of my letters. Hasn’t Suse written to you yet? We’d love to hear how she is doing. Apparently, Alfred spoke to Hans and Alfred wrote to Clara, that Hans has agreed. I will hear the exact exchange in a few days and will send it to you in my next letter. We are still waiting anxiously for mail from you because we don’t have many diversions here.
