Dearest Gretchen —

I suppose you wonder why the V Mail but I am writing from the Red Cross here at our area. Walked down here tonite, about two miles I think just for some coffee and cookies. Incidentally while I think of it sometime when you are sending me a package stick in a small can or jar of coffee as I think I can use my little stove for that. I still havn’t received any more mail from you but look forward each day to mail call. I’m sure when it does get here I will hit the jackpot. I am going to try to get to town tomorrow night if possible to see the bright lights again and to take a hot shower I hope. Think perhaps Watson and I will go together. I wrote three letters after I finished yours last night. One to Dorothy and Charlotte, Leo and Luana and one to my mother. I thot perhaps if I wrote a few more I might receive more. Friday was the nicest day so far. The sun has shone most of the day but it is misting out tonite. My pen is, was running out of ink, just refilled it. Well sweet thats about all the news for now maybe I can write some thing after visiting the city that will be of more interest.

Bye for now
All my Love
Clarence.
